Thanks to the excellent instructions (with photos) from 97corvette.com I was able to install the CLB in about 45 minutes this morning. (Sorry, no pics - my hands were kinda busy! ) The hardest part was getting the temp sensor connection apart and re-aligning the bottom knee pad screws after the clips fell off.
I certainly hope this will be the last "column lock" problem I need to worry about.
There really isn't that much "electrical" the COH unit I bought is "plug and play" there really isn't any hard part. It just takes a bit of time to get all the pieces apart. As long as you can use a torx driver and you are not legally blind... you can do this!
Go for it...
When I did the install, I was able to get the underside of the knee bloster out of the way by just dropping the bottom screws.. I then was able to pull the knee bloster out enough to get my hand and a flashlight in there.
I didn't have to take apart the things on the topside of the dash.
I have the kit, i am not that good with electrical stuff and am nervous doing it myself.
It's good piece of mind to have that in there. I HATE hearing the solenoid lock each time I shut the car off.
no worries. it took me about 10 or 15 min. to do mine on sun. morn you should have inst . that came w clb . onlt i did not take temp sensor loose just flipped it over out of the way.
