Let the solvent soak on the area for about 5 minutes then wipe with clean rag. You may need to repeat several times for a thick crust of adhesive.

I agree with Dave - Goo Be Gone or something like it. You might also try 3M Adhesive Remover. I know that's what Discount Tire used on my wheels when I had them re-balanced.
