Default Column Lock

It finally happened to me. Was at the parking lot at the airport. Got in, turned key and got the message on the DIC. Waited about 15 seconds, all the while imagining the tow truck and my car on it. 15 seconds later, I put the key in, turned it and the baby just purred like a kitten and came unlocked.

The funny thing was that as I was waiting for the parking shuttle at the airport exit, I started to think about my column locking like that. Have had the car for about 4-months now. I should get the bypass.

You just escaped from a close call.... order the CLB...
They are not expensive and will take 30-45 minutes of your time to install. It is a cheap price to pay for the comfort of not worrying everytime you get in your C5 ...if....

You're right - get the bypass. Best $50 or so you can spend to save a world of potential problems.

Installed my CLB last night! Better to pay $50 now for the CLB than pay the stealership $500 for the fix. I have owned the car 2 months and had the warning come on once, had to jerk wheel side to side and it finally unlocked. Ordered the CLB that night. Still don't like the idea of having the car sit there with with out the column locked and having a 6 speed, but I guess if someone wants the car bad enough, it wouldn't matter. It is very easy to install, hardest part on mine was getting the connectors apart, but still had it done in under 20 minutes.
