Default Blackwing Questions

I received my Blackwing from Corvettes of Houston today. Looks great but with the filter they shipped the Bellow Kit that's needed with 2001-2002 C5's - mine's a 1999. This bellow kit is described as a 3.75" straight sleeve and includes a hose clamp. Before I call the vendor I wanted to ask the forum members if the filter assembly itself is the same regardless of the year? Also, it looks like both ends of the Blackwing tie into the gromments that are on the car to help hold it..... Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Does this mod change anything in terms of fuel/air mixture? I presume increased airflow to the intake is less restrictive than OEM air filters.

Just curious if the computer will automatically compensate for proper fuel/air mix, yes?

Yes, drive it for a while so it can adjust.

So what are you thoughts on the blackwing? Does it perform as expected? Better, Worse?

I'm removing a K&N filter and replacing it with this Blackwing. When I bought the car I took the K&N off and cleaned and reoiled it. Seemed ok and the car ran well but the Blackwing appears to have a lot more surface area for air. I've not seen a K&N like mine offered for sale by any vette vendors..... Might be out there but I have not seen it.

Blackwing works great on my car. Did not have to do anything except take off the old filter housing and install the Blackwing. I still use the same stock acordian piece on mine.
