Default Trouble with lighting, PLEASE HELP

Ok im just going to tell all my light troubles and if anyone can give me any help at all to solve these problems it would be deeply appreciated.

First the passenger side headlight grinds for about 6 seconds after turning my headlights off. I think I have that one solved because Im almost sure its the gear and Im going to get a brass one.

Secondly, the other day I turn my drivers side turn signal and notice its blinking reallly fast. I look at the reflection of my car in the car in front of me and realize my Drivers side DRL isnt on. Nor does the turn signal work in the front. However the drivers side turn signal still works in the back, its just blinking rapidly. Then to top it off when i got home and turned off my headlights, the drivers side headlight goes down and then pops back up about half way and I have to manually lower it back down now...

So I figured the front DRL/turn signal needed replacing so I went and bought a replacement bulb. Well, turns out the bulb that was in there wwas fine. It comes on when I turn my headlights on but when im driving it DOESNT come on as a DRL and it DOESNT come on as a turn signal. Yet it DOES come on when the headlights are on. What in the world is up with my drivers side light issues??? Im so frustrated with my c5 right now I'm second guessing buying it even though I love it.

For the time being I pulled the #2 fuse so both DRL's are off so that doesnt look so bad when im driving during the day. But I need to find out the turn signal and why the headlight pops halfway back up after turning them off.... ANYBODY have ANY clue on either issue?

Well, the DRL bulb (#4157) is a dual filament. If you look close, you may see one busted filament, and one good one. If you change it, it should correct your rapid flashing. I would ramp the front of the car for easiest access to the bulbs. Remove 3-5mm hex screws and voilà.

As for your lights grinding, etc. .. sounds like your gear is going out. It's a nylon gear that wears out... replace it with a brass one and no more issues. A buddy of mine just replaced a set and he cracked the headlight motor open, replaced the gears and epoxied the motor back together.

Hang in there... I've gone through a load of crap dealing with mine as well... and I also contemplated jumping ship last year... but I'm glad I didn't. This is pretty minor stuff...

Hopefully, if you're not mechanically inclined, someone in your area can step up and lend you a hand.

Good luck

It sounds as if you've got the headlight issue figured out. I'm 99% sure it is a gear going out on you. As to the bulb. I'm quite positive as well that it is a bulb issue, the fast blink of the turn signal is the give away. Remember, the dual filament is for the DRL, parking light/turn signal. Go ahead and replace the bulb.
