There was a thread someone posted last week entitled "C5 Secrets". I read about how holding the active handling button down for 5 seconds engaged the competitive driving mode. I was just curious as to what this meant...my car doesn't have the owners manual so I couldn't look it up. Thanks a lot!

Here is a excerpt from the Corvette Action Center about Competitive Driving
Competitive Driving Mode
The Corvette Active Handling system will be the first of its type to offer dual mode operation. In addition to an "OFF" mode, in which Active Handling is disabled, the system also allows the driver to select a "COMPETITIVE DRIVING" mode for autocross or gymkhana competitions. In this mode, the Active Handling system remains fully-functional -- measuring steering, yaw rate and lateral acceleration inputs as well as applying individual wheel brakes as required -- but the traction control system is disabled, allowing for some wheelspin and oversteer that skilled drivers often find beneficial in competitive driving.
you may want to check the connection. It might not have been connected when serviced last. Just pop the panel with the button off, (comes out easy) and check that the plug is connected, then just pop it back on..

I've got an '00 coupe with the Z51 and mine will switch to Competitive mode. I always switch when stopped and with the trans in Park.

The panel your active handleing button is on in front of your center console. Just pop it up with a small thin blade screwdriver and check the plug on the button..

I have it on my 2000 6 speed convertible. I believe I was stopped, press and hold button for about 5 seconds as stated. Good luck. It seems odd this is harder to engage than "off" which seems to get far more people in trouble.
