My wife is so excited to finally have a Corvette with a trunk...now if we could just get it to open. We (like most C5 owners) are cursed with the trunk that "pops" open a whopping 1/4". No way am I putting a key under there and prying it up. I have adjusted the rubber bumpers, sprayed the hinge pins with WD-40, and sprayed the latch with WD-40. Each of these seem to help for one or two uses, then we go right back to the ever-popular 1/4". What has worked for you?
I have not needed this yet, but saw this posted a while ago. I've also heard there is a fix under warranty!
Your latch spring may be damaged or need adjustment. Look inside the latch where the lid striker/catch goes and you should see the latch spring. The purpose of this spring is to push up on the lid striker/catch when the lid is popped to help raise it so that you can get your fingers under the lid.
Also, at times when the lid doesn't raise sufficiently for you to get your fingers under it, shut one of the doors firmly and this will usually raise it more, especially if the windows and top are up. This will help prevent damage that could be caused by using something to pry the lid up.
Too, I've found this problem to be more prevalent during the colder times of the year.
