Default CCW setup

Thinking of getting a set of CCW 505A. Would like to have a little wider/bigger tire in back. I measured my stock rims myself, came up w/ 18x9.5 front 19x9.5 back. Does that sound right. Maybe I would do 18x10 front 19x11 back for the CCW 5054. New car has 500 rwhp and thinking of drag radials, or something to get better tracktion. Are there front tires to match drag radials. Want a nice matching set up to accomplish all of above. Input would be greatly appretiated.

Stock wheels are 17x8.5" and 18x9.5".

The stated size of a wheel is measured to where the tire bead sits, not the overall dimension. If you measure the overall width, it is 1" wider.

Thanks for the correction on stock dementions.

Does anyone have input on the sizes I'm thinking of using, and tires.

This may be alot to ask, but it would nice to see pics of someones car w/ theses sizes.

Already looked at pics on ccw web site, don't know what size they are, maybe stock sizes.

Is this set up ok? Are the front wheels to big,or the back?

thanks

I just bought 18x10 front 19x11 back for the CCW 505As, but as far as I know, no one makes a 19" drag radial . Only 18" drag radials...

Yea! those rims look nice. Is this what yours look like, are they crome, do you want $3900? They are different sizes. I'll check email for pics. Stay in touch.

Thank you, I wonder what tire I could put on a 19 that would get this car to hook up?

Just read your pm. Now I understand the post and why you referred me to that thread. I was confused. Sorry!

I'll give this some thought. Would like to see crome and polished in person.

Rob IMO the polished look MUCH better (which is what i have), but they are just so hard to keep lookin great. To fully clean and polish them takes 2 hours using air tools, and buffers. I have tried all the polishes to make clean up easy and while they help, the job is still a bear if you want a show quality shine. The chrome still look very nice IMO. I would suggest to anyone that is what they look into. But then again, chrome are heavy, and unsprung wt at the hub is a mega burden to a car. With the amount of tq you have, unsprung wt shouldn't be a concern, heck you are worried about keeping them glued down already.

I will say that the new c-6 rubber does come in a 19in 285 which is what I have and it is MUCH better then the c-5 compound. in fact I have a another set of stock size rims with Kumo rubber and the c-6 rubber is a MUCH better grip and also a better riding tire, but at 1500 bucks for 4 they should be.

Good luck with your choice.....

For what it is worth, if you buy my polished ccw's, i will prolly replace them with chrome ccw's.

Your information and truthfulness is appretiated. I would probably go for the crome. Currently have a set of crome zo6 that came w/ a used vete. The crome has started peel. Is this because they come from a cheap manufacturer, or will all crome start to peel. I've noticed the vendors selling wheels offfer a 2-3 yr. warranty, but those sets sell for 7-8 hundred $'s. Would'nt want to pay 3k plus for a set of rims to have the crome start to peel in 3yrs or longer. I guess there is also some maintence ivolved. Maybe even the cheaper wheels would'nt peel if they were polished and maintained correctly.

Good luck on your wheel decision. Such decisons area always rather daunting. Frankly, whether you buy wheels that are polished, OR, chromed, you will still have maintenance issues. Chromed wheel surfaces can lift, peel and scratch, and, are costly to re-chrome. Polished wheels can scratch and fade. However, polished wheels are easier to service yourself (Mothers and Eastwood manufacture low cast DIY wheel polishing kits), and/or, have repolished (usually cheaper than re-chroming) by a professional wheel polisher. Best wishes.

Thanks for your time, and input. The good thing is I don't have to have wheels right now. I'll take my time to make sure I get what I really want. Maybe I'll go back to my original thoughts of a new set of ZO6 repo. crome wheels. They look good and are reasonably priced. Thanks again.

19's will be tuff to hook up with period. 18's are much more versitle and you will have many more choices of tires and rims when it comes to buy. Big wheels like 19' and dubs(aka 20's) are more for a bling factor than anything else.

Don't need the bling, just want to hook up and look pretty good doing it. If I'm not mistaken, the new Zo6 has 19's on the rear, and maybe the new base car as well. I'm all for keeping it simple, especially if it will be easier to stick to the pavement.

The car I just bought has crome wagons, and I'm starting to think they don't look bad. Maybe I'll go back with the crome ZO6 hell I don't know,It may be 3K for ccw's.

Thanks for the advice Slow 97. That will help w/ decision. Put some mods on that car and change the name. Thanks again.

How often do you have to put the elbow to it. Once a month would'nt be to bad. I guess this would be a regular washing followed by polishing maybe w/ an air tool to buff it all out. If neglected for a period would it corrode.
