During bump steer,
how far (what distance) to the right or left does the car actually jump? Anyway to judge what the distance is? I would guess less than a foot??….its happened to me a few times and it’s a pretty scary feeling.

I don't think that there is any way to really answer this question. It will depend upon the speed the car was traveling, the size of the bump the angle of the impact, the condition of the suspension (loaded or unloaded) under acceleration, braking...well you get it. I would bet that it is not more than an inch or two in terms of where the contact patch left the road surface and where it returned to the road (of course not including the forward distance traveled.
