Anyone remember a show on History channel, TLC, or some channel on the making of the C5. It aired a few years ago, was very interesting and I would like to get a copy if possible.
John Ratzenburger's 'Made in America' did a partial show, probably 8 minute segment at Bowling Green late in the C5 era. Would that have been it, or was the show you recall a full half hour or 1 hour show?
I have the segment of 'Made in America', .... I'll check my DVD-Rs for other shows...I might have more than I recall right off....I'll subscribe to this thread so I can easily get back here after I have a chance to see what else I have.
I don't have a long show like that. Besides the Made In America, I have a segment of Dream Car Garage where they drive a prepared C5 Zo6 on a track, and I have a 'Corvette Camp' driving school featuting c5s segemnt from some other show on Fine Living or Discovery . That's it. If anyone can find the big show, I too yould be interested! PM me about the shows I do have if your interested.
Therre was a VHS tape "1997 Corvette" made Jan 6, 1997 by GM which ran 60 minutes and interviewed a lot of GM employees involved in production including Dave Hill with lots of interesting footage. Discussed a lot of body and mechanical component design. I think I bought mine from Mid America or the company in Michigan a number of years ago. Does this sound like it might be it?
If it was on the history channel you can probably get the video. This is something they offer for most of their shows. Give them a call or email them, I'd be curious myself.
A PS on the above-Further titled on the back of the sleeve "Building The Fifth Generation Corvette" Take a behind-the- scenes look at the making of the new Corvette. Get an eye witness account of the people and events that led to the development of the new 1997 Corvette.
I called Corvette Central this afternoon and they don't have it. They suggested The Corvette Museum at Bowling Green as a likely source. I have a good original. PM me if, after searching, you are not able to locate a copy.

I found the video at Corvette museum, "The 1997 Corvette". Cost was only $5.00, very interesting video about the design concept with interviews of the project development team. Thanks to all for the info!!
A absolute must read and must have for any serious C5 owner is "All Corvettes Are Red" by James Schefter. This is a first hand, inside-GM account of the C5 development. I read it three times before I picked up my C5 and it really gave me a profound appreciation of the people that brought the C5 into existence and their total dedication to the car.
