Im just looking for some advice on what muffler to pick. First of all im only interested in purchasing it for the sound. I like the low pitch motor boat sound and the crackling (sorry dont know the technical term). The increase horse power is a bonus. So the question I have is so far i like the sound of the Bullet but im not educated enough to know what i really need. Can i just purchase the muffler? What do you guys recommend and how much should i expect to spend including installation (estimated).
I love I really like the Billy boat quad tip bullet but not sure if there is more or better..
Do you guys know of any second hand opportunities and why is it taht i read three seperate times that people have put back their stock mufflers only after a short time using the B&B bullet (both said too loud) wow is it really that bad?
I run the borla stingers. I got them new on ebay for 700 and installed them myself. You need a lift to get the stock ones off. The bb bulllets are too loud for me. With the stingers, 65 mph on the hwy is just a little louder than stock but WOT is awesome. You can hear different mufflers on their websites. No matter what you buy you can put the stock ones on easily.

Some people just cant stand the resonance...as a daily driver my Stingers work just fine...no reoccurring headaches
...As I've mentioned before the corvette exhausts are so deep in tone that they are difficult to hear online...it is no substitute to hearing them in person (i couldn't recognize my exhaust upon hearing it on a computer)...with that being said however there is a good site for comparison http://www.thx2.net/exhaust.htm

I've got the single tipped Bullets and love 'em. Less than 600 bucks at corvettegarage.com. they're definitly loud and im getting a partition to help with the resonance. once you're cruisin in 6th its not that bad. B&B claims up to 22 hp over the stock c5, so you're lookin at around ten or so. remember a tune always helps. you'll save weight since they weigh the same as the ZO6 titanium systems. bottom line, you save weight, pick up some power, the sound is AWESOME and its the cheapest exhuast out there. i did the install myself with a buddy, took an hour and a half. i'd say go with the bullets. good luck man!!!
i have glh bullets with quads tips ,very pleased with the sound and quality. not quite as loud as the bb prt's systems. no problem hearing the radio as crusing speed, they have a deep tone to them. what ever you end up getting, it's going to be an improvement over the stock system, as far as getting them put on i took mine to a local muffler shop, we had them on in less than an hour, he charged me 35 bucks, to get them out without cutting them you'll need to drop the sway bar on the pass. side. that's my $.02
$600-700 for MUFFLERS?!? That's insane. On my old '92 C4 I got two Flowmaster 40s for $300 installed (4 months ago before I got the C5), and they, IMO sound just as good as any of the others, and they give about the same performance gains, if any of them really give anything.

I have a 1998 coupe but i listened to the audio at http://www.thx2.net/exhaust.htm and really liked the
SLP Loudmouths on 2004 Z06 with X1 Cam from MTI
It sounds like a boat!!!! i love it,, but will it sound like this on my 98? and do you guys think this sound is just over the top?
your guys responses were so quick i really appreciate it
lastly if i like this one can i just buy the mufflers? because above it says slp loudmouths with (X1 Cam form MT---i dont understand what this part is)

Flowmasters do not flow good at all. Especially when compared to bullets.
this car sounds nuts, claims to have bb bullets so if this is what they sound like i want!,, umm do you guys think this sound is consistant with bullet?

I wish they were that cheap man. But most systems ive seen are around a grand new other than the B&B Bullets. given i dont look at flowmaster b/c IMHO they're sound is alright but if nobody else on here is running them on their C5 that says something. all in all its Corvette tax at its finest i guess. the corsa ti systems r upwards of 2 g's last time i looked but its been a while. btw, the instructions with the B&B bullets are super clear and installation is a piece of cake if you've got a socket set, torque wrench, and access to a lift. good luck to all. remember, vettes get em wet!

yeh .. that's baby is blown .. you cant really hear the exhaust over the whine.
and if you're after the boat sound .. go with the SLP loud mouths or the borla straights.
it's weird most people hate the sound of the boat.
Wads, suggest you go to a Vette gathering and ask the guys and gals to rire up their rides so you can hear their exhausts, that way you get info as to what you like, how much it costs, etc.

I would guess that you still have your stock exhaust. Just about all C5 catback exhausts run from $600 to $1000. Personally, I am quite happy with my Magnaflow, but if you like the boat sound go with Corsa.

I was talking about just the mufflers, not a whole catback exhaust.
These will make your car sound like the tough car it is. Personally, I like the Stinger sound better than the Bullets. Once we installed the Stingers, the positive reactions to the sound were unbelieveable. To most people, it sounds the way they think a Vette should sound.
