Default just curious...

I was just curious...has anyone ever used the "C5 info plate" that sticks to the console cover, for its intended purpose. I feel that it is poorly designed, but i like the concept. I was wondering if anyone had pics of what they did with the plate or if they were able to get it on the console...

I've seen some folks put it above the rearview mirror on the targa Molding between the visors.

Before you buy one, check the info on it closely. A number that I've seen have wrong engine CID and/or HP and other data on them.

They look pretty, cool but if you do any performance mods they are immediatly inacurate.

At all the shows I have gone to, really haven't seen anyone with one of these plates on the car. I'm just not a big fan of them.

Funny this comes up just now.

I ordered one from Ecklers just last week and it arrived on Monday. I "stuck" it on and yes, it is poorly designed. Does not follow any contours nor even attempt to do so.

I saw it on a friend's car and thought it looked good. On the second look when it was in my car, hmmm...still deciding whether or not to keep it.

I'll post a pic when I get home later...

With all the tweaking we all do on these cars... I thought it was something vendors came out with as a "keep us busy in the meantime" mod.

It's a nice touch... I guess you gotta spend money on something right?

I wish they had a personal "real info" one.

When i realized that it wont fit where it is supposed to, i stuck it to my Fuel Rail Cover. However, recently i switched out to the red zo6 fuel rail covers and now have to do something with the plaque. Its sitting in the garage right now, but i feel its gonna go on the "wall of corvette" [which includes the old FRCs] shortly.

I always liked the data plates on C3's. I bought one for my C5 and bent it to match the cotours of the area beween the visors on the targa top.

Tuned port injection is what early C4s had...C5s are sequential port injection.

About the only thing correct on the plate is the word "Corvette"...but I have one under the hood anyway...

The CAC tech center gives the LS1 bore/stroke as 3.90x3.62, listing some years as 350 c.i. and some as 346 c.i.; Compression as 10:1 and torque on the late C5s as 375 for manual, 360 for auto. Looks like we need someone with basic math skills to figure the c.i.

According to the GM Service Manual, the bore, stroke and CID of the LS1/LS6 engine are:

Bore = 3.897-3.898 in. dia.
Stroke = 3.622 in.
CID = 346

CID computes out as follows:
NOTE:
Bore Radius = 3.898 divided by 2 = 1.949 in.
Bore Radius Squared = 1.949 X 1.949 = 3.7986
pi = 3.14159265
Cylinder Volume = (Bore Radius Squared X pi) X Length of Stroke, or
(3.7986 X 3.14159265) X 3.622 = 43.2237 cu. in.
Engine CID = Cylinder Volume X No. Cylinders, or
43.2237 X 8 = 345.7896 or 346
