More info needed is there anything else special about the car.
Allot of dealers had cars modded slightly to make them seem rare. Dealers Hyped them up as being rare, but all you were buying is a c5 with mods done at dealer.

This was an after market exhaust plate that was sold by Corvette Central and perhaps a few other Corvette accessory dealers. To my knowledge, the plate has now been discontinued. I've often wondered too what it was referring to. Like the other above, I'm unaware of any limited edition Corvettes for model year 2000. I'm wondering if it could be the plate itself that they are referring to as being a numbered or limited edition. Perhaps someone else here can shed some light on the subject.
Perhaps the total number relates to the number of cars in that particular color. I know my Vette is one of 997 that were Arctic White for the year 2000. Doesn't exactly make it a limited edition, though.

Then which color would that be? Actually a total of 1979 Arctic White (RPO 10U) cars were produced in 2000 - 979 Coupes, 685 convertibles and 315 FRCs:
I'm a new C5 owner and I have a question for anybody who might be able to respond. I purchased a 2000 coupe and there is a plate on the back between the exhaust tips that says it is limited edition car out of 1000. What does this really mean?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I believe the number refers to the number of billet exhaust plates that were made. Nothing to do with the car.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts on my "limited edition" question. I just picked up the car last night and I can see this is going to be a great place to come and hang out. I did some research myself and the photo of the billet plate that was posted is just like the one I have. I like it and it is staying on the car. Hope to post pics soon. Thanks again.

Just a guess was all. Wouldn't minded having been one of the 315 FRC people. I still love that style the best.
I too think the white FRCs look nice. However, I was really taken awhile back by a white coupe with raised red lettering on the rear fascia. It really looked sharp and I think it was the red lettering that set it off.
Back when I had a C5, the exhaust plate was all the rage. Mainly because the area between the exhaust tips looked so unfinished. They sort of jazzed that area up. Of course, some were way over the top. At least yours, although a bit weathered, is subtle.
