Default Upgrading the Bose system.

I know that if you try to install an aftermarket stereo system in a Grand Prix with the Bose system you run into problems.

Is this true in Corvettes too?

IF you want to run the stock Bose speakers you will need to get an adapter from Soundgate.

I would like to remove all the stock gear and replace it with my existing system.

If you are replacing everything then it makes it easier, you won't have to worry about what's compatible because you already know

is it possible to add tweaters in the area behind the door handels, and keep the stock system? or would this be too much of a headache and just not worth it?

I trashed my entire Bose system. Here are pictures of my new system (lots of picts): http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...66&forum_id=20
I have a DVD/CD/MP3/XM/FM/AM headunit by Sony with a 6.5" Sony LCD monitor mounted in the headliner of my Z (no removeable roof panel. ) All speakers are Phoenix Gold as well as the amps. Wiring is all Stinger. The issue with replacing the Bose system is that you can't get a wire harness to plug into it. You can tap into the ground and hot power wires from the harness, but you need to splice into a switched power wire. I didn't bother with the RAP. Too much for me to figure out at 6:00pm on a Sunday when I was installing the system.

I left the existing Bose speakers but added a 10" Image Dynamics sub, a Kenwood deck (w/Sirius - which was disabled and cabled it for iPod instead) and a Rockford amp.
