Default Seat needs repair

My driver side seat is starting to come apart on my 99 FRC. It is by the bolster. Is this fixable? I don't have pics.

My driver's side bolster has a wear spot from the previous owner. I've had it touched up by a reputable interior repair shop, but it still came back.

Chances are if a shop tries to re-sew the panel back, it will not last long. You can try to find a replacement set in the C5 Parts for Sale section, or even better, get a new set of seat covers from Vette Essentials.

Vette Essentials would indeed be a good option, but you can get just the seatback cover from Fichtner's. That's what I did and it was cost effective and an easy replacement.

Depending on the leather color you can usually just replace the leather in the damaged area. Find a good local auto trim shop.

I had some wear spots on the driver's side bolster and could not afford new OEM seat covers. I went to my local reupholstery shop who does all the repairs for our Corvette Club's sponsoring Chevy dealer and had a repair done. The materials matched perfectly and was significantly cheaper than replacing the entire seat cover...even got new padding installed. My only regret was not getting the seat bottom done at the same time!

Whatever way you choose, I recommend getting new padding also.

I did the same thing on my car. I had the side bolster redone and the front part of the seat. It match perfectly and they used better leather than stock. He told me it would last a long time. I think I paid under $200 for everything.

You are fortunate and have the option to replace your foam/leather, I don't even have an option that meets my quality standards for the 96 I own.

Your 99 is surely due for some new foam and while you are at it, spoil yourself and get new covers. www.VetteEssentials.com does incredible work. I've been to their shop and know first hand the time, expertise and quality they put into their products.

Once again, you are fortunate you have options for replacement, and a company that will make your vette look better than new, and have you sitting in cushiony comfort as well.

We replaced the entire seat back on my car last year. The left bolster on the driver's seat was broken from the previous owner putting his weight on it. The side bolsters on the '98 were very poorly constructed, so I went with a later model seat back, which is one-piece fiberglass. I also replaced the foam and seat covers at the same time, using all GM parts.

I just replaced the drivers back cover, so you can get specifically the piece you want from Fichtner's.
