And my car is a mid year 2001 with only 21000 miles on it. Pretty tired of subjecting my Z06 to the skills (?) of my local dealer just because of a bad design. While the car is still covered by Major Guard, I will apparently have to learn to fix this myself some day. Any directions as far as specifically what is breaking and how to fix it are very welcome.
Hmm.... is that bad luck or a deeper problem? I'd wonder about that if I were you... What else is causing this problem??
Also, see if you can't get something of a longer warranty against this particular item... at no cost... My theory being that if you had multiple problems before she goes out of warranty, you should get additional factory assistance after she goes out of warranty.. regardless of any extended warranty you may have.
I wonder if the window is binding in some way adding extra stress to the regulator. What goes out, is it an electrical or mechanical failure? Do the gears wear out or does the motor just quit? Sorry about your problem, I hope you can get to the bottom of it. When we bought our new Oldsmobile minivan back in 98, we had a problem with the electric sliding door. 5 times we had it in for warranty repairs. Finally, they replaced the $600 motor and we have not had any more problems with it. I threatened to exercise my rights under the lemon law. Good luck.
Back in town, finally. Two have been on the right side and one on the left side. No apparent binding on either side. They just stop working (always in the window up position) and that's it. Slamming the door while holding the window down button does not work. When pressuing the window down button, I can hear contacts closing somewhere.
All three replacements have been 100% covered by my Major Guard, but someday this will be gone.
