Improve proformance on a 99 C5 LS1
In the order of easy to install and lowest cost, what can I do to improve performance?
If some of the work is easy I may be able to do it myself.
Is there much difference from buying a programmer chip package like the hypertech vs. having the car performance tuned some where?
With each of these changes is there any estimate of the increase in power it will make?
Thanks,
Jack

I have a 2000 vert and the most noticeable improvment came from swapping out the intake system, I installed a Vortex, which was easy, although it requires cutting a hole through the radiator shroud for the cold air intake. Blackwing is highly recommended and an even easier install. The SOP effect is significant and my other mods were less noticeable.

In terms of performance, hp is going to start costing you a pretty penny after the new air box. Exhaust systems run $600 plus and headers systems run $1200 plus. After that you could add an aftermarket cam shaft for around $2000 plus the cost of a dyno tune which is around $500. In order to add around 70-90 hp to the car, you will need to spend $3000-5000.
