Default replacing head lamps

Just picked up some silverstars today. I am going to install tomorrow morning. I was taking a look at the manual and just wanted to know if it is as easy as it is written in the manual, or is there anything I should watch out for. The manual says that the headlamp door should only be open half way and that it might take a few tries (turning to on position and then back to parking light position). I was not able to get it to only open up halfway. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You can manually open the lights or turn them on, then back one notch, leaving the parking lights on.

Remove the 3 Phillips head screws from the plastic bezel.

Remove the bezel... pull it forward from the top (there is a tab there)...

Reach in and depress the tab to release the light socket and remove the bulb.

When you replace both bulbs, turn the lights off and examine the way bulbs are seated. Make sure you have all 3 tabs in, otherwise your bulb alignment will be WAY off.

After you've checked it out...

Replace the bezel, the screws and voilà!

It doesn't take long at all . Did all four lamps in about 25 minutes. Just use the manual ***** to lift the lights. One thing you should do is wear rubber gloves when removeing and replacing the lamps and sockets. Oils from your fingers will shorten the life of your lamps. Seeing how most of the change is done by feel, the surgical gloves work great.

Did you go with the 9005s & 9006s or 4 9005s?

Walmart has the Silverstars and a good selection of others. I just did the 9005 mod/upgrade last week and it makes a big difference.

I also did a bit more investigation and found this site: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...good/good.html
He provides some logical insight, and points out that the life of the Silverstars is rather short. So I installed the GE Nighthawks which are the same lumens, but "yellow" (normal color) as opposed to the white or blue light from the Silverstars. They were also a bit cheaper.
