I was looking on Autogeek just before and saw a product that opens your garage door useing the "flash" option of your highbeam switch. This would be easier that reaching into the glovebox for the remote. Anyone seen or have this? It looks like it just uses wire taps on the wires at the headlights.
I've heard others who have it talking about how convenient it is, they seem to love it. Looks like the going price is $80, I got a used Homelink visor on eBay for $30 then removed the transmitter and wired it into my visor.

Seems like a lot of trouble, my garage door opener has a clip to attach it to the visor...

Visor looks good and I've Ebay bid on a Homelink equipped used visor to do the same mod. However, tell me about the sunglass case in the same picture.
I installed the Flash2pass several months ago. It solved all the hassles. It has a rotating code like all the updated garage openers do so it's safe and secured. It does tap into the high beams and is very easy to do.
The homelink mod is actually pretty easy to do, just be sure to check the polarity of the wires in your visor before hooking it up, the wire colors in there don't mean anything.
I did the DIY sunvisor thing with a Homelink unit I got off eBay for $30. After a couple hours worth of work, including getting a little overzealous in heating the stickers off and melting the fabric a little (not too noticeable), I got everything back together and guess what?? It doesn't work. The unit is getting power. But I can't get it to synch with my opener. I know the opener is fine because it works fine with my MDX's built-in homelink. I called Homelink's help line, and still no luck... If I'd known about the F2P before today, I'd have just bought that. It's $10 less on Amazon. I'm probably deleting my visors anyway, so I'll eventually break down and buy the F2P.
Cheers,
Vaughn

My plan is to hook up the Homelink unit to a battery and see if I can get it to work OK before I start cutting into my visor. I'll probably use the power take off point or the cigarette lighter plug to temporarity power the unit. Programming the Homelink on my Suburban was a little tricky, but it did work in the end.

Did you program it properly? You need to sync the remote to the homelink then sync the homelink to the opener. It's a 2 stage process that can be frustrating. If the lights are working I'll bet you've programmed it incorrectly.
