Default What would you do? (Dealer Problem)

What would you do? or can you do? I should say.I bought my 99 vert almost 3 weeks ago and still cant get it reg. to drive.Basic info is the place that I bought it from is in NY, I'm in CT a dealer that had it up on ebay , I was the last bid so I got the car.Now for the problem , the car had a lien on it , the day that I bought it and didnt know till after the sale and money was paid ( in full). I have the title now but no lien release so CT wont let me even get a temp for it I was talking to this dealer almost every day and he kept telling me tomorrow, so my wife called gmac and come to find out it was just paid off the other day and the release went in the the mail last night to the dealer .So now were talking end of next week before I can do anything.

What can I do to this %$#@& dealer, is there some sort of governing body for them , or am stuck with BBB, square trade , ect.

Chalk it up to lessoned learned and just wait it out.
I have learned many valuable lessons the hard way though out my lilfe. I'm so freaking pesimitic now, that when a girl offers to buy me a drink at a bar, my reply is, "Get away from me before I call the cops".
Well, not really, but close to it.

I'm wondering if there is a law saying that you have to tell the potential customer there's a lean, if there in fact is a lean.

I think in most states there is a line item on the transfer that actually has the seller stating that the title if free of incumbences and liens. and they have to sign it.

See thats the thing , on ebay it states clear title . I would have never given him any money, other than a deposit till it was cleared up had he told me .There has been other things too that he's not come through on too like keys, manuel, fob, ect. all to be gotten to me by the end of that first week.

Check the law in the state involved. It most likely is against the law to sell or to sell without the buyers knowledge. If the car has problems return it and get a refund.

Returning the car is not something that I want to do , I like the car but I dont even really know how it is since I cant drive it I been looking it over for 2.5 weeks and she needs some stuff but for what she is I dont think I'm gonna find any better. The outside looks like a 2 year old car not 7, inside well thats a different matter .

I need to do something though, anyone else have any thoughts on this

First of all, was it a Chevorlet dealer? I would go to the Region Manager.

Also, I would contact the Attorney General Fraud Division in the state it was sold as well as the Motor Vehicle Bureau in the state it was sold. Don't forget to ldge an official complaint with E-Bay Motors. They can suspend further transactions pending for that dealer.

If you have a notarized bill of sale showing clear title, you are entitled to that title.

In the meantime, I would try to get temporary registration in your home state. Under the circumstances, you should be able to get registered.

You might also want to contact the lienholder. If the amount of the lien is not too much, pay it off. Then pursue criminal and civil actions against the dealer in question.

Be relentless. You are in the right here.

Good luck!

No transaction is finished until the paperwork is done. That means the money stays in your pocket until.

The State's Attorney General should be able to help, or at least give you some guidance on where to turn to. Good luck and hope you get it registed soon so you can drive the car.

Well some good news, mister fedex just brought me the release. I 'm gonna try to go to dmv Sat.morning that should be fun .At least I can get the temp reg. now. But this aint over by a long shot .My wife works for a lawyer and I do too ( I"m the system admin ), but we did not want to get them involved. But at this point I dont really have an option. This guy cant do this to people. What he did is not legal and I dont play that. I wont see anything from this, but at least he wont do it again .
