Now is this the 6th seperate problem involving the clumn lock, or the same exact redcall that you keep getting notices for?
reason I ask is b/c I know the previous owner had the column lock fixed under warranty. he was one of the unlucky ones to have to have it flatbedded b/c of this problem, but he got it fixed a while ago and I assumed all was good. So I need to know if there are further problems with the column lock. I just bought 4yrs of additional GMPP coverage so if so, than I will take it in to make sure all is fixed.

The recall is totally worthless, only a re-program of the computer to keep you under 2 MPH if failure of the column lock occurs. Even when you have the actuator replaced, the "fix" is only temporary. It will fail again. The problem is that the actuator is a flawed design. GM will not spend the money to re-design the part. Even though they installed a new one, it will eventually fail. I have heard of people having multiple failures. The only permanent cure is a column lock bypass. I put mine in about 6 months ago.
I've had at least that many on my '04 Z. I installed the CLB right after I got the car, and even took the time to write to GM to request I be removed from their recall list, but they just keep coming. They now immediately get torn up and filed upon receipt.
Maybe GM is starting to get the feeling that there are alot of LS1edit, EFIlive, and HPTuners tuned programs in ZO6's out there that owners don't want erased lol! I've received quite a few notices and do not plan to have the recall done ever
