Doesn't sound right to me. Is something wrong with your radiator?
Did you get a air buble trapped and stop the flow? maybe trash in front of the radiator or blown head gasket.
You should not be overheating like that unless something is wrong.
I'd take the old radiaror to a shop & get it checked before just replacing it.after I'd looked into the other things first.
