Default How do you light them up?

What is the best method for 'lighting them up' off the line. I have a 99 with 24M miles, MN6 and F45. I put it in 'competion mode' revved it to 3000 rpm and dropped the clutch, She jumped up and took off but it didn't even bark the tires. All I smelled was burning clutch, not burning rubber. Are these cars hard to fry the tires with off the line? How do you do it? Tom

I turn T/C off, stomp with the right foot and be a split second late with the left. I have run-craps though

I like to start about 20 mph then nail it. The tach will jump to 6 grand instantly, then grab second as fast as you can and fry them to about 55mph and grab 3rd gear. Hard on tires though. Sounds as if your clutch is shot.

Default 5500, (side stepping)

TC off, RPM 5500, let clutch out by twisting ankle (side stepping) to left, mash gas peddle tell rev limiter kicks in, shift to second with rev limiter doing its thing, side step clutch and so on . . . . . . You can always poor a little chlorine in front of the tires to make more smoke. Not to much cause it will catch on fire.Yeeeee HAAAAAAAA

sounds like ur clutch is goin bad the car should ripp w/ popping the clutch...but for a nice burn out hold the clutch and brake in then slowly give it gas using the heel toe method and let the clutch go and ull be sitting there frying them

Its not really clear whether you're talkin about jus lighting them up for kicks or for staging before a drag race. the reason u hooked at 3000 is because you should. u wont hear any squeal if you're just spinning the tires a lil bit. the rpm's will just jump up. to spin the tires all u gotta do is floor it in first, theres no way you're not gonna break em loose. assuming u want to de a pre drag race burn out put it in second just in front of the water box. rev it up to around 5500 and dump it and then apply a little break to keep the car from walking. then let out of the break and gas and u will come forward. good luck man!

I usually just jump on it anywhere between 0-40 mph and that does the trick.

Nah, I don't think his clutch is messed up. When I first got my C5 I didn't know how to light them up either. instead of competition mode, turn off TC raise the tach up a bit more and side step the clutch, trust me you will light them up then.

If you're talking about making tire smoke as opposed to a "hole shot",
on a basically stock car,

Turn off the traction control.
Bring revs to 3000 or above (depends on your tires)
Dump the clutch, flooring the gas at the same time.
Immediately, take your clutch foot and move it over to the brake pedal, pushing it just hard enough to keep you in one place.
If hitting the rev limiter bothers you, you can back off the throttle a little.

Takes a little practice, (might try it first on a wet surface) but you can sit and spin till you make tire pudding!

If your clutch is slipping instead of the tires spinning, this should finish it off!

I forgot to turn off the traction control one time. Pretty funny!

I have an automatic. I just turn off the traction control and the tires will light up anywhere from 0-40mph. Make sure the car is pointed straight when it hits 2nd or you might go into a curb, median or pole.

Wait till a cop is staring at you... and try really hard not to give him any reason to want your autograph. I guarentee you it will happen EVERY time.

If youre talking about staging...starting off in 2nd gear is actually easier imo....just 3000, or 3500 shoudl be enough revs but becarefulla bout "drivetrain shock"

Be careful though. You're about to hear from the "That's too hard on my car, Bad for the tires" crowd.
