Getting a strange engine noise only when engine is cold and under load. Goes away when the engine warms up. It almost sounds like a belt or pully squeelling but I removed the belt for a test drive and the noise is still there. The dealler said it's lifter noise and normal... ... A nice vett SHOULD NOT make "normal" ugly noise.
I read a TSB about the oil pump o-ring being cut on installation causing the pump to suck air and foam the oil to the lifters and make them noisy. Does anyone have knowledge of this? Can I do anything else to confirm if this is the problem? Should I attempt the o-ring replacement?
My 98 Camaro did this, it was the AC belt. If it is a belt sqeak and you took off the main serpentine belt and you still had the noise then you may want to remove the AC belt and see if then it goes away. If it does could be just the belt or may be the tensioner. I never f'ed with it in my Camaro because it always went away after a few minutes.
