Default Ordered my Blackwing Today

This is the first engine mod to my 2000 Vette. I've seen some opinion on the hood seal...is this necessary? And what benifits will I gain? Also, what proformance mod should I go after next. I already have DynoMax Ultra Flow exhaust. "Headers" maybe long or short and why?
Thanks for any info. given.

Congrats on the purchase. As for the hood seal, no hp gains, but it keeps dirt out of your engine bay.

Go for the hood seal, have it on my 2000 and engine stays a lot cleaner and keeps any rain water out.

times 2. Good purchase ... you'll need the maintenance kit too sooner or later with cleaner and oil or perhaps you can find someone who already has one to share. One "recharge" kit will last a millenium.

You will notice the difference in power right away. I might suggest a larger air bridge also for more air to the throttle body.

Look at seal used between hood and fenders on each side. Order one of those from GM (costs a little more than the aftermarket stuff)

You'll like it 'cuz it will exactly match the other two. You'll have to trim a little to make a perfect fit but when you are done, it'll look like a factory installation.

See this thread...

Then check this link for some pictures...(note Blackwing too)

I'll just echo the sentiments from above. I have the Blackwing and it was a noticeable improvement in throttle response on my '97. I have the hood seal, forget about any "gains" as far as hp claims go, but it does manage to keep much of the dust and water out of the engine bay. Headers, long tubes, no doubt. I understand that the shorty's will do very little for you in the hp department.

Hood seal is worth it if you want to reduce dust in the engine area. Blackwing is a noticable improvement and will be a benefit once you get long tubes.

Enjoy!

Nice choice on the Blackwing. I've got one and like it alot. The hood seal will help keep any water off the filter as well as keep the dust down in the engine bay.

Next mods - perhaps headers or rear gears.
