Recently I've noticed two odd things. When I turn the parking lights on, both headlights come all the way up. They don't come on until I flip the switch that one more little bit, but they pop up. When I turn the lights off, it sounds like the passenger side headlight motor is still running for a few seconds. Both of thee issues seem to have popped up together, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how they're related. Any ideas out there???
the grinding noise means one of the gears is going bad...I can provide you with pics etc on how to fix it if you like....just PM me an email address.
The other issue seems to be somewhat related in my experience when my lights were sticking I sometimes had to flip the switch a couple times to make them work..I don't know if the bad gear causes the lights to stick or what...but its a PITA for sure.
You can get the brass replacement gears from rodneydickman.com. Look in the electrical section. Gears for both lights should be around $80. It will take you a couple of hours to fix and is not a tough project.
BTW, has anyone noticed that most of the time it's the passenger side that goes bad first?
