Driving a beater isn't cutting it for me, so I have been lazily looking for some cars around my area, in no hurry to buy.
Came upon a 2000 Coupe, 6-speed, Navy Blue/Black, loaded (HUD, dual sport seats w/memory, etc.) 51k miles, 1 owner (middle-aged husband and wife), all records (down to every oil change and fill up, according to the woman I talked to.) They're asking $22,000, which I think is a pretty good deal. Hopefully it's as nice as they say it is.
Good luck, I'm really pulling for you. I've read several of your posts and know what a long, trying search it's been for you but it's good to know what you want and wait until you find it. Hopefully this will be the one.

I have a good feeling about this one - first Vette that isn't outrageously overpriced around here.
I know you've been struggling to find the PERFECT car - I've followed the chronicles of your search here. But honestly - what's is PERFECT when you're talking about a 6 year old car with 51K miles?
If your standards are perfection - you won't get that with even a brand new car. Good luck to you......

Ilya, why toture yourself again. Very few Vette's with 50K are Perfect. It's hard enough to buy a brand new one that's perfect. If it looks good, drives good, and your mechanic says it seems good for a vettte, that age and milage, with no glaring defects.....Don't Beat It With Your Fine Tooth Comb.......Just Buy It!
There's no quarantee unless you pay for one.....but you can sure start enjoying it and hope you get a good one.....Go Man!

I should have said that it isn't absolute perfection that I am looking for.. but no glaring defects, drives nice, great paint, etc. Can't say much until I see the car, but if it looks as nice as the Pewter FRC did (the one with engine mods with 55k miles from a dealer) and also drives nice (unlike the Pewter FRC) then I will take it.
Thanks all for the kind words! Of course, I will Carfax it and do a service history check.
The car, said to be in "mint" condition, was anything but:
1. Dirty interior looks like it wasn't cared for in ages.
2. Little scratches all over the place, inside the car and out.
3. Two large (2 feet x 2 feet or so) areas of paint where the owner tried to "take out some scratches" and ended up completely ruining the clearcoat, so the paint looks dull and feels like wax.
4. Grey interior instead of black, which was unexpected because his wife told me it was black.
So, in a nutshell, I'm disappointed. Gotta keep looking...
