I've been lurking and posted just a few times, but now that I have my vette I thought I'd introduce myself. My real name is Melis, I'm 26, female and engaged. We're sportscar fanantics and I've been eye'ing the C5's! I just acquired a 1999 FRC vette about a month ago. I was dead set on a black (thats the color my previous sportscar was) and it had to be a hard top unless I found a z06 within my price range. I ended up finding this C5 in the paper and we had to go check it out. It had 24k miles on it, 6 speed, pretty much mint condition. Paint is perfect and has lots of shine. Interior is black, and after a test drive I ended up trading in my black 97 3000GT SL for it. Its kind of hard to come by a hard top vette with really low miles, 6 speed (which was a must for me) and overall a great price of $24k..... so even though it wasen't black it was exactly what I wanted. Not that there is anything wrong with red......red is hard to get used to....its just so .....bright! So anyway I love it and its hard to stay off the gas pedal, wide open throttle sounds so menacing. I was really amazed at the handling, I thought the c5 would have more body roll but its tight. Its very responsive when you want to get up and go which I hope doesn't get me in too much trouble-lol. The seats are very comfy and the Bose sounds great. However the stick shift stands quite high....like a semi truck, but that can and will be modified I suppose Untill I can find (and afford) some nice aftermarket chrome wheel setup I decided to paint the stock alloy rims....I've had experience doing this before on a previous car so is was easy-just time consuming. I also painted my calipers red while the wheels were off. For the rims I used high degree automotive spray paint and clear coat over the whole wheel to seal it good. Holds up great once it fully dries I also blacked out my front turn signals. Other than that I just need a dark tint for my windows. Anyway I'm glad to officially be part of the C5 community
Sorry for the winded post....that was alot but here are some recent pictures
