Very stupid question, I am going to be installing a C6 shifter and was wondering where I could pick up the rubber 1 1/2" plug that goes in to the insulator. Is this a plumbing product? Thank you in advance.
You don't need a plug if you buy the complete shifter. Do a search for C6 shifter and look for Patches' post. It is a complete how to on this. I think he used a pipe plug because he had previously used an after market shifter. Anyway, I followed his directions installing my C6 shifter, used no additional parts and it works great. No noise/vibration.
If you haven't bought the shifter yet, you might look at the C6 Z06 shifter. They are cheaper at Fred Beans than the std C6 and advertise 33% travel reduction.
You don't need the plug with a C6 shifter. Patches uses it for the install of a Hurst shifter. I just changed out my Hurst and installed the C6 ZO6 shifter, very easy install.
The Hurst has shorter throws and was very stiff compared to the ZO6. My wife feels much more comfortable with the new one. The biggest problem with the Hurst for her was, going from 5th to 6th, it always wanted to go to 4th if you weren't careful.
If you haven't bought your C6 shifter yet, try going here - the ZO6 one is cheaper
