Default Looking for clutch recommendations/advice

I am considering upgrading the clutch in my Z, I do like the very smooth drivability from the stocker though (my last car had a Stage 4 Spec, that chattered like a fully loaded dump truck) I want something with more holding power that will take a bit of abuse without letting have to cool down (like I have to do with the stocker between runs) but I want to maintain good driveability. I dont plan any crazy mods (like big H/C or power adders) and the car may see drag radials but for now it will be on a F1 SC

Please share what you are running and your overall opinion as well as price.

Thanks in advance

Mike

How is it on engagement (Im not really too concerned about increased pedal effort) Im looking for something that does not chatter and engage like an on/off switch.

Thanks

Mike

Textralia here, and happy. Little chatter till broke in, now smooth as a babys behind. Can take off from idle, no problem, actually works the best. Unless dragging of course.

Good experience with LUK Stage II w/ the fidanza aluminum flyweel. The car still drives fine and will roll along in 1st under it's own power still. Some say you have to rev it more taking off from a stop b/c of the 15 lb flywheel but I haven't noticed that at all. Car pulls noticably harder in all gears.

Car shakes a bit more at idle b/c of the lighter rotating mass (heavy stock flywheel dampens vibration more). The clutch is marginally harder than stock w/ a nice solid engagement.

The release point was very low until broken in now it's moved up to a middle location. I considered the Textralia clutch, but wanted the lightened flywheel.

Now if you have lots of money you can get the Textralia w/ the Fidanza flywheel but that gets even more expensive.

Just make sure you match balance your new clutch assembly to the one you take off to insure you retain proper engine balancing... Corvette motors are not always perfectly zero balanced and adding a zero balanced clutch can really mess things up... don't ask me how I know.

Take a look see at the Cartek clutch. I just installed one in my '04 Z and I'm happy. Little chatter, but it's still new. Very good pedal feel and this clutch has years of satisfied customers with alot of drag racing experience behind them.

MIKE,

I to have the RPS single disc clutch which ECS uses on their own personal cars and customers and I love it as it feels almost like stock to me know with just a little chatter when the car is at a stop light in neutral without the clutch being eingaged. As soon as you engage the clutch chatter is gone and so far i have to give this clutch and its alum synergy flywheel a UP!!!!!!!!!!!

CALL ECS for more info, etc. and i have heard this is more street friendly then alot of its competition!!!

I've heard great things about the Cartek clutch. I ended up putting a Spec Stage 4 spec clutch in my car with an aluminum flywheel and the lightweight option and it has been very driveable. It chatters very little and grabs when I want it to.

I've got about 1k on my LS7 clutch and it's great. Feels like the stock clutch without any slippage. No chatter at all. I drive in bumper to bumper traffic with a 112lsa cam.

BTW, no track time but 430 rwhp.

Can we get a lightened flywheel and use with the LS7 clutch?

I am almost positive that would not be an issue, I believe Fidanza makes one.
