My dad just purchased a 05 Lamborghini Gallardo and he bought a 3M Clear Protectant for the front end. I just don't like the idea of having a bra or even this clear film on the front end of the car because of paint fade. The reason he bought it was for the rock chips that might become a problem on the highway. Even though it is clear, I think it might do more harm than good. Have any of you guys have any experience with the 3M clear film?
I have it and I really like it ... except that the pieces on the mirrors are starting to peel off. I am not sure if that was improper installation or what (It was on the car when I bought it)
I have it on two of my cars and love it. Now that I've had it on those cars, I'm going to have it put on the Corvette too. I'm going to have them put it behind the wheels too. BTW, what did they charge to put it on your fathers Lamborghini? It cost about $500 for each of my cars.
Your also forgetting the most important part. ITS A LAMBORGHINI!! I'm willing to bet that its going to spend about 80-90% of its life in a secure garage. You won't have to worry about sun damage there. We all say go for it!
Think about it this way: If its going to get rock chips, your gonna have to paint the hood+bumper anyways, so if the clear bra somehow incures a color change onto the car (most unlikely), you'll have to paint it aswell. Tell your dad congrats. I'm jealous!
I have had it on 3 cars now and can tell you that it's great in protecting the soft paint from damage. There really is no reason to remove it except for body damage so the color issue isn't a consideration. I won't hesitate to put it on my next car either!
