I am running them on my 02 Z06. I don't think they are safe in the rain. I have not gotten caught in a rain storm yet but I can imagine they would be pretty dangerous. Tread life is not that great but a little better than I expected considering you can mash down in the rubber with your finger because it is so soft. I will just tell you this...they probably won't last but 5K-10K miles depending on your driving, but if you have never used a drag radial before and you buy them you will not regret purchasing them. They hook very well. You have to sacrifice tread life and rain driving if you want a true performance tire to plant all the power you have! I can only say I will definately buy another set!

I had em on my car for a couple thousand miles (mine is a DD) and they did fine in the rain. Never got caught in any downpours per say, but they seem to stick fine when wet, IMO better than the F1SC's. I wouldn't want to drive them in a monsoon since the tread depth is so small (5/32 when new).

Same here, I have driven in the rain with no problems what so ever, I have over 5000 miles on them and they still have some tread but they get stepped on hard, If I can get 8 to 10 thousand out of the rears I will be happy. I didn't buy them for mileage, these are performance tires

Pretty good tire in the rain. Awesome traction. I've got 11 months on mine now and they are just about gone. All in all I'll get about 12K out of them. That's my usual yearly mileage. I'm quite pleased with that.

I have them on my vert. with Z06 rims and they are great.I put them on this April and have 10k on them. They are fine in the rain.We don't get real heavy rain storms here so I can't comment on that. I have cut a 1.66 sixty ft. time and have been to the track several times with them. Looks like I will get at least 12k miles out of them. They stick great on the street and strip and are lasting me at least one year. I will buy them again for sure.

they are ok in the rain as long as there is some tread left. they wear out in NO time.

i wont be buying again because 1. they wear out too fast 2. the rear are expensive 3. they stick too well and take a little of the fun out. you cant spin out or push the car around at all unless you're really trying and i felt they put too much stress on the drive train

i was affraind for my clutch at times

I have had them on my 450rwhp ZO6 for a little over 5k miles, they are actually better in the rain than the F1's, and they are alot quieter going down the freeway. I have made about 30 passes on them at the
dragstrip, did an HPDE on them and they still have some tread left. I expect they will last about another 3-4k miles. All in all they are damn good tires and stick very well at the track and in the corners too. When they wear out I will order another set without hesitation!

Not sure about whether they are talking about the drag radial or not. It was my impression this thread refers to the 555R Extreme Nitto Performance Tire (and not the drag radial) but could be wrong.

Can the author of the thread or somebody clarify if this thread is talking about the Nitto Drag or Nitto 555 Extreme Performance Tire?

I run them on my daily driver at 15psi. Had them on for about 9k miles, still have plenty, over half, tread left. Maybe it has to do with my running them at a low psi all the time. I also have no problems with them in the rain. I run nitto streets in the front. They have the same tread pattern as the DRs but definately not as good dry traction. They have alot more tread though. I also run the fronts at 30psi. This is on the H/C Z06 in my sig.

Don't get the extremes. They have a harder sidewall more for road racing than drag racing. I've had the extremes and the regulars and the regulars hook much better.
