I'm looking at a 2004 vert w/1sb package and auto trans for my wife and found one that has the colors she wants. It has about 6000 miles and is a clean car. What would be the most that I should be paying ? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. She does want a 2004 (last year of the c5's).Thanks in advance for your input.
welcome. you'll find no shortage of opinion or advice here; hence i'll open. if you indeed buy this particular car, what you pay could be somewhat related to if you're buying from a dealer or private party. as a point of discussion, you may want to start w/ kelly blue book value as a starting point for negotiation. if the seller of that car won't negotiate, don't be afraid to walk; there will be others. the good part is that car is still under warranty so there should be no major surprises. good luck. bub
There is a lot to be said about implementing strict negotiating skills. Do your best to purchase the vehicle in cash in the low $30K region. Sounds like a great car. Check all title, carfax, insurance, warranty-dealer work records, etc.. Good luck to you.
Sounds like a nice car, but 35K would be the max I would spend for an '04. The late fall/winter season should work in your favor. You can get a new '06 for 45K. Good luck with your search.
Thanks everyone for all the input. I ended up paying a little more than the 35,000 threshold that everyone suggested. But keeping the little woman happy will pay off in spades. I'd like to post a picture but am totally clueless as to how to do that. As soon as I figure it out .......

I figure anything with the 1SB package under $40K would be a steal, and a vert under that price would be an outright night-raid.
That girl is gonna be a mighty happy woman!
Posting pic's is a challenge that a digi-cam and some reasonable software that should come with the device will make it immensely easier than trying to scan a printed photo.
Once you figure out how to get the images into a PC/laptop, then open an account at a free pic-hosting service (there are many, I use VillagePhotos), upload the photos with the hosting service wizard, and then link them in here with the posting helper (the little square with a mountiain on it).

1. congrats on getting a c5! it's the best!!
2. good move on keeping the boss happy (i'd never use your description! ); what this means is that your life will be happy as well .
3. when you get to it, photos are most welcome here!
A frind of mine owns a couple of chevy dealers and did a wholesale dealer auction search for comparable cars recently purchased by dealers. Seems that I paid about $500 more than the average paid by these dealers with comp mileage and options.
