Why was the trunk designed to be open into the cockpit? Will blocking the opening with a partition cause any problems?
Not sure....perhaps the designers thought it would save some weight, but the openess does add to increased noise in the cockpit as well as poor stereo performance. The partitions help in both cases. Do a search and you'll find many forum members who use partitions and are please with the results.
Contact Crazy C5 Cowboy to get one. Great guy to work with.
Partitions were not included because of storage space. You have more space for items like golf clubs and can actually get two bags in the car without a partition. I put one in my Z06 and it dramatically cut down the inside cabin noise level. I now have to figure how to cut the partition to accommodate the rear braces on the roll bar recently installed. I definitely like the reduced noise on road trips.
Im not sure you can add a partition on a vert without blocking the top's ability to fold down so I think I'm stuck with it
The Exotic Vette one has a little angle in it so you can fold your top down AND get to the center rear storage compartment without having to remove it.
Several members have made their own homemade (and very nicely made) partitions for about $20. A piece of thin plywood or heavy cardboard, surfaced with cheap carpet. Glue a little border around the edge and bingo - over a hundred dollars saved! Search and find the simple instructions/directions to make your own. Forgot who posted them, but they're good.

Ya just gotta doff your hat to the very capable and resourceful DIY.
