I just drove back to Maryland from North Carolina. I went to the North Carolina/Maryland Game.
When I pulled off of the interstate to go home, I checked my Average MPG on the computer. It said that I averaged 34.5mpg. I traveled approximately 300 miles and the gas gauge was just barely below a half a tank.

That's very cool...
I had a guy swear up and down that MY car was getting 10 mpg...
When I told him I was avg. 22 or so... he asked if I was sure... I just said, after 2 1/2 years of driving it I am... his eyes almost fell out of his head...

Sounds about right man, I average about 31-32 mpg on the highway. It's just how it is! Funny, when I plan a trip I think "humpph, I should take my vette to save money on gas..." Just makes owning a car like this a heavenly experience!
Just a month ago, I bought my FRC in Raleigh, NC and drove it back to MD. So, I must have taken the same route you did. The computer said I averaged 32.5MPG. I filled up carefully before and after the trip and calculated the true MPG to be 28.5MPG. Still not bad at all. I was cruising in 6th in the 75-80MPH range most of the time, but would sometime downshift and accelerate just for fun.
However, I also think Raleigh's elevation is near 1000 feet while my Maryland home is near sea level ...

When i did the cam my boss said now your going to get abou 10 mpg . I laughed I said I mite drop down few mpgs to about 26 he said what ! but i didn't still in the upper 20s 28 to 29 mpgs
Usually run down the freeway on Sundays to see son in college.
Today very usual except traffic heavy and fast...as in kia's trying to do 80 and up along with everyone else. At 80-85 in sixth, the car is doing less than 1900 rpm....it thinks its at rest at fast idle...and DIC reading 30 to 32 mph depending on incline....you want good economy, leave it in 5th...you want rice burner economy, leave it in 6th. I call it my econo-car.
I have had my 00 vert for three years now and have traveled many times for more than 250 miles. I have averaged 31/32. I keep telling my wife I have purchased an ECONOMY car.... somehow she refuses to believe me...
ZOOOM
This weekend I averaged 28 from El Paso to Albuquerque and back at 85. Uphill 27 mpg to (Abq) and 29 mpg downhill (home). My Lexus driver passenger couldn't belive it. It was great!!

i'd say thats on the high end but im not gonna call it impossible. i get 30 if i put it in cruise at 75 in 6th. my friends dont blieve me either when i tell em. enjoy the vette!!!
Incredible:
Not credible; surpassing belief; too extraordinary and improbable to admit of belief; unlikely; marvelous; fabulous.
So, when you divide the miles you traveled by the gallons of gas you bought when you got home and filled up the tank, how did that compare to the DIC data?
Not calling you or anyone else a liar, just questioning the accuracy of the result, because my car gets nowhere near the fuel economy most people are claiming here.
My vette is my daily driver to work. Round trip is close to forty miles. A little of over half of my driving is freeway yet i average a little over 18mph. On the freeway i am in fifth and on the no traffic roads i am on before getting on the freeway i tend to drive with the plan to get the best mph i can...just seems like i should be getting better mph. What do others think?
My wife and I just did a 1600 mile vacation trip. Louisville, Ky to Columbia, S.C., Hilton Head, S.C. Savahanna, Ga, and home. I got a low of 29.1, and a high of 33.8 mpg. Those were done by long division method. THe DIC had a slight bit higher reading. I feel the reason we all get different mpg is the difference of our foot, and the MODS to the car. I am into 6th gear always and ASAP, therefore my mpg would be higher. My 03 mn6 is totally stock. I do not go up the ramps WOT. These cars are truely an amazing wounderfull vehical to drive.
