Default New Here

Hello all,
Newbie here. Just bought a 2000 Torch Red C-5 Coupe, for my wife
Taking delivery this Thursday. Car is in immaculate condition with 25,000 miles. Has lots of mods, most installed by the car's first owner. Current owner says it has Billy Boat exhuast (looks very nice) and a cold air kit/computer chip, presumably also from Billy Boat. He doesn't seem real sure about it though. Does Billy Boat make a performance pkg that would include all 3 items? And how do I tell for sure if their is a chip or if the pcm has been reprogrammed?

Thanks in advance. I'll get some pics up when we take delivery. Some of it's other mods include Aftermarket chrome Z06 wheels, Falken rubber, tint, chrome lettering and some interior trim pieces. Also looks like it may have been lowered.

First...welcome to the Forum...get ready for a great ride

I am certain more qualified reponses than mine will follow...but I have never heard of a "Billy Boat" anything, especially with respect to a C5. And the LS1 engine/PCM does not take a "chip".

I strongly urge you to get someone more familiar with C5's to give this C5 a check ride before you finalize the purchase. Ask a forum member in your area or a member of your local Corvette club to help you out.

Be careful...good luck.

Welcome to the community!!

As for myself, I'm not sure that BB offers a programming of the computer. I suppose they do if they install items "in-house", as it seems many businesses offer retuning after installations.

Not sure about a B&B Performance package for the C5 - but they do offer something along those lines for the C6.

Here are some links to the web pages...

My 2000 TR Coupe has B&B Rte 66 Touring exhaust with quad oval tips and I am very satisfied with it. Welcome and enjoy. Don't forget to wave.

I think Billy Boat is B&B, but I am not 100% sure. I would have purchased the car anyway without the performance mods. Car is excptionally clean and well cared for. I believe it's a matter of the guy not knowing much about the mods since they were already on the car. He is an older gentleman, definitely not the gear head type. I'll try to get a closer look at the CAI and PCM when we take delivery. Are the PCMs hard to get to?
I have a performance PCM in my truck. It was a remove and replace with a custom flash installed on the new PCM unit.

Great idea with the local car club. Thanks.

Thanks for the links. I see they do offer an ECM upgrade for the C6. Have to dig into it further when we get her home.

Many Billy Boat exhausts here... I suspect the cold air intake is either a Vortec or a Vararam...
There are several performance chips... maybe a Jet

Congrats and Welcome

Wow. Thanks for the warm welcome. I see lots of beautiful rides in your sig's. I especially like that '68 Roadster, Blue

My wife says she thinks the Cold Air Kit says "Breathless" on it. Found a website for Breathless Performance. Must be one of theirs. I have never heard of them before.

I am excited to have another Vette. I previously owned a white on red '77, and an '84 that was customized pretty extensively. Looks like this is a great forum.

Welcome and enjoy your new car! Billy Boat(B&B) makes a good exhaust. As far as the car having a chip. If I am not mistaken our cars ECU needs to be reprogramed or you could use a flash programmer like a predator or hypertech. Again I think(99.5% sure) that there are no chips available for our cars.
