Ever since the day I bought my '04 coupe i have been regretting the A4.
Long story short:
I surfed around the internet looking for a dealer that had either an '03-04 C5 coupe/MN6. Found one upstate.
They offered 30K trade in for my car ('04 MY coupe/ 1sb - 11kmiles, glass top) for a '04 MY coupe, MN6 3k miles. The only differences between the two cars is the dealers has the cd changer and dual tops. They want 38 for it.
So the math is about a 8k difference between cars. That seems like way to much money to get the same year car. I know mine has 11k on it and this one has 3k but that shouldn't be that much of a diff right?

You can do better. Just paid $39.5K for an '03 MN6 AE vert with 2220 miles in your backyard (CT). Coupes usually go $3-4K less and non-AE should be $2-3K less.
I think you should be able to find an '03 low mileage coupe for $32-34K.
The dealer I bought from told me it is really tough to sell vettes this time of year in the Northeast. That should work in your favor.

You're kidding, right? You do understand that companies that sell things make a profit? The car dealer is going to mark up the car on the lot, discount your car so that they can mark it up and make a profit once it sits on the lot. If you want to make this change - sell your car on auto trader and purchase another. The best way is through private parties because there is no sales commission paid.
stealers arent in the market as a "savlation army" they are there to make money... 8 grand off of you... sell the car privately and go back to offer them cash.
You know that there basicly both the same car rihgt??????
mn6 and cd player and top woulda cost maybe 2-3 grand extra brand new..
However used....Theres probaly a 500$ differance between both cars.
I just went to my dealer a month ago thinking about trading in my 04 coupe for a 99 Viper...
They were gonna give me 35,000 for the car....SCREW THAT...30,000 for your car? Heck naaaaa...
Sell it to a private party and get 37-42 grand like you deserve...
EXACTLY! I figured I would pay a diff of maybe 1-2k MAX so long as both cars where pretty much the same. My car is definately cleaner than any they have on their lot. Auto's are easier to sell to the general public and supposedly have a high value (thats what seems to be the dealer concensous).
I would do the whole private party thing but its hard to find a buyer for a used car thats worth 35k.
What would you pay to drive a MN6? Offer them the difference and see what happens.
The glass top and CD changer would run $1000-$1500 used. You do the math.

That's a good way to look at it... figure a hard, real cost for the hardware (maybe compare apples to apples on KBB) and then add in what you're willing to pay for the "desire" factor. Either the dealer will bite or he won't. Good luck!
Your car is worth more then $30K. If you are patient and diligent you should be able to sell your A4 and buy an '04 MN6 (same options) for the same price. Don't give up $8K just to drive a manual.

I totally agree with this statement, especially when you can do the conversion swap for less! Trick is, ya just gotta find another vette owner who is willing to do the swap!

Is Craigslist hot in NY? The whole world is buying used cars advertised on craigslist.com (for free) out here in Cailfornia.
Ya, I was going to try that, but when i listed my bike for sale i had to filter out the usual, 'Hi, I'm from Turkey and will gladly give you 100k for the car but...' emails.
I'll give it a shot. I am in no rush as I don't have drive the car that much anymore so I'll just try and be patient.
