Drive it. I picked mine up in Florida(Clermont) and drove it to Flagstaff, Az-2400 miles. I drove straight thru, a little over 33 hrs. Had a good time.
I just looked up the travel for a PCS move and you get $0.485 per mile (car) and $0.15 for a passenger. For me driving approximately 2400 miles that equals out to be $1524.00 for gas only. I couldnt find how much your Per Diem for food and lodging would be but you are definately going to make more than $403 more like $1305.13 (approx) just for gas.
TDY moves in the Air Force are pretty high in terms of mileage reimbursement... but PCS is only $0.15 per mile. My per diem would be $50 per day (one day is 350 miles of official distance). Unfortunately I don't get dislocation allowance because this is my first move
Regardless of the figures though, I don't think a single person responded saying that I should ship it... so I think I'll be looking forward to a nice cross-country drive in a couple months

Haha, those figures make me want to be in the Marines...
Oh yes... I didn't even think of that. I last took my coast-to-coast move was in a 1991 Geo Storm, and that was fun. Couldn't even begin to imagine making the trip in a Corvette. You must stop at the museum if you can swing it.
Do you have set period of time to make the move? If you have some extra time, swing up into KY to spend a day at the NCM. Then cut over and pick up I-40. Quite a bit of old Route 66 is still in use and you could get off the freeway and use the old road. Lots of great sights to see on that route.
We have been a part of two Corvette Caravans (`99 & `03) back to the Museum and it is a pleasure and a privilege to tour this great country.
Thanks for your service!
I would drive, personally. Keep your eye on the weather at that time of year - we did a Museum Delivery in December of '99, and ended up stranded in a blizzard on I-40 outside of Amarillo. NOT fun sleeping in your 'vette!
