Default Door Mirror

Has anyone tried to repair a door mirror that has had the internal spring come loose. Evidentally someone hit mine and the spring has popped

I had mine replaced by a man named Ed Swaneck. Do a search on this forum for the topic and see if you can find his information. It costs around 70 dollars and you have to pull the mirror yourself. However, I can vouch that he does excellent work and I haven't have a problem with it since.

Good luck.

Just found this in the tech section...it's the guy I was talking about. Hope it helps.

I posted this in March of 2003. I don't know if they still do this repair, but I would give them a call if I were you .

"I just read this in my new Issue#150 NCRS DRIVELINE March-April. This Guy will repair "your" mirror with the "broken clip" syndrome. "A permanent repair, guaranteed NOT to break" Send the complete mirror w/wiring harness, with ck or money order for $60.00 inc. shipping and handling. He offers a two day turn around after the mirror is received. He even offers by phone, mirror removal & installation instructions, ph# 330-783-0083 ext.15, after 4:30 pm 330-757-9466. Name & address: E.H. Swaneck, 4030 Simon Road, Bordman, Ohio 44512. Other NCRS members can verify ad, page 66. Sounds like it would be worth a try"

Good luck.

Ed did both of mine, at different times. Fairly common problem.

Default 1997 Door Mirror - Loose

Tried to contact Ed Swantech and he no longer works at the number given and the other number rings no answer.

Is there anyone else out there that would fix a mirror with the broken internal spring?

I did both sides and I will tell you it is a PITA. If someone will do it for $60, I say go for it. In fact I had to do the driver side twice. (My fix came loose.) I will keep this address for future reference. Good luck.
