Default Trunk Closing Issue

My trunk never seems to close properly on the first attempt, there is roughly a 1/2" gap. When I open and close it again, it seals properly.

Any thoughts?

Yeah. I usually have to just about jump on mine to close it...

Open a door or leave a window cracked to let the air out. Or just push firmly down in the middle after you first try to close it. There's an air relief valve in the hatch area, but it doesn't work very well.

I always try to have the door open when I close it. I also always use two hands, one on each side of center.

Step 1: Work out the triceps. j/k

Step 2: Here's what I do: Pull the hatch down by the inside latches. Then covering my hands with my shirt (or the microfiber towel in the trunk) so I don't leave prints (mine's black) I push down above the latches on both sides of the hatch at the same time.

Works like a charm and I'd imagine this prevent some wear and tear.

Withthe lid all the way up, I reach up and push the lid on the emblem 'till it rests on the car. Then another firm push and it's shut.

No problems here. I hate pushing down on the trunk. I just kinda toss it shut with no ill-effect.

I have the same problem. But I did notice that if a window is cracked open, or a door is open the problem is gone. Must be some kind of air tightness issue.

Same as everyone else here ... leave a window cracked, or open the door if you want it shut the first time.

Leave a door open, or do what I do. I bought the Window Valet. Now I can get out of the car with the window or windows down, close the trunk with no problems, and then hit the lock button 3 times, and the windows roll up. No more crawling back in the car to roll up the windows.
