Thanks for the replies. I think magnaflows are a nice compromise. Any body want a set of GHLs 3.5'' round bullets in the next week better chime in.

Yes, a little bit but with a whole lot more resonance.

GMvert, wow that's a though one! I don't think you'll find much to choose from between stock and the GHL Bullets with a deep sound that is much quieter than the Bullets. Magnaflow would probably do it. Good Luck

put stock system back on and then do electric cut-outs. Quiet when you need them to be, and wickedly nasty when you want them to! (i.e., half a block from the house!)

Well,I solved the wife problem (gone and forgotten),but the neighbors are b******g about my GHL's being too loud.I snatched a handful of earplugs from the pistol range and passed them to the complainers.Strange, they didn't appreciate my contribution to the problem,so I am looking for a new apartment where the neighbors are all DEAF.

That subject has come up several times. If this vette is sold then the agreement is buy a new one after some house projects are done(which is never). She asked what a new one will cost and then she is quiet.

That'll get him a divorce for sure! But seriously sounds like you may want to go with the Corsa Touring. Better than stock but wife friendly. I have stingers! Definitley don't do those either unless you get the non-stinger model. Those are supposed to be quieter but still have that deep rumble, though I haven't heard them so don't know for sure

Stuff the pipes with steel wool before you start up the car.

Seriously, add 1 more layer of sheetrock to the back wall of your garage. It is the best sound deadening material there is. Also, put carpet under the car, to eliminate the sound reflection. It will make a HUGE difference. Probably more than if you went to stock exhaust. Even stock pipes are loud in a garage. I bet she won't be happy, and you will definitely not be happy going back stock.

Evie wears ear plugs, so I am fine in the morning. I leave about 5:00 AM every morning.

This is kind of an opportunity to accidentally order a tire/wheel package with my new "quieter" exhaust system. I will probably get "kinda" in trouble. "It's what I wanted for my birthday and Christmas, your shopping for me is all done." How's that sound, think she'll buy it?

Greg, hey its your old residency buddy.

Well, I see your wife does not appreciate a good sports car. I know how it is to please a wife expecially after a kid comes. I raced my sports cars at the track on a regular basis but since the two kids, I have given it up. Not because she told me to but the stress of leaving her at home multiple weekends durring the year was taking a toll.

Consider looking for a Z06 exhaust as I think it sounds and looks great. If you want a little more sound but still a good Idle then consider getting headers, high flow cats, a new slightly more agressive cam. It will still sound good but not too loud at idle but will scream under WOT. Be sure to get the car tuned after this little upgrade to take advantage of the added power.

I hope your wife is not reading this but I know you make similar money to me and I will say, don't let your wife hawg all the money as you deserve a few toys in your life. you have earned it and deserve it. A man needs to be able to splerge on himself from time to time. You can't plan your life out to every last penny. You can't take it with you. Better yet, just sell that darn thing and buy yourself a new Z06

Let me know if you got my e-mail.

Jeff.

Thanks for the advice Jeff. Don't worry my wife would never read this stuff. She is a Food Network junkie. Loves to cook, skinny as a rail, and smart as a blonde cheerleader from Oklahoma State(the only one with a full set of teeth ). Yes a H/C package is on the to-do list. She understands my need for a "hobby" so it is really not an issue most of the time. As for the exhaust I think I will get some magnaflows.

thats good! I got your e-mail as well. Your daughter looks very cute.

We need to get together and check out the vettes and go for a top off/down cruze around town when it warms back up a little.

good luck on selling your exhaust.

Jeff

Its a good thing that my wife doesn't read up on this forum. She gave me a bunch of crap about the Hurst. But got over it. Now likes it. then she gave me a bunch of crap about Corsa Pace Car. She got over that.

Just unloaded on me when she saw the charge for the headers. And I know I'll hear about the sound level.

I've semi-convinced her that HER car is now custom, and she should be proud to drive it.

If she read this thread, she'd kick my butt.
