I just have a question if anyone could point me in the right direction here. My airbag light just came on in my car and the dealer wants $98 just to diagnose it Thats not including anything that might need to be fixed to turn the light off. Is that a fair price to pay or is that just ridiculous. I had a few people tell me that it could just be a fuse or something. If anyone has any clue what the problem could be I would like to save on that diagnoses! Thanks

I agree with above, don't mess with the airbag, get some professional help on that one.
My dealer in Cincy wanted $100.00 to check the engine light.
Evaporative emmision code, about the 3rd time.
I finally bought an AutoTap to clear codes myself is something stupid like a loose gas cap. Would recommend it.
BTW. I was told by the dealer to push down hard when putting the gas cap on for 5 clicks. He didn't have a clue, got advice from CF, no more gas cap problems.

you don't need auto tap to clear codes.
to read the codes
1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2) Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3) Press and hold "options" and
4) While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-Second period.
once it gets done cycling through the codes, you can use buttons 1-4 to cycle through the codes and hold the reset button for a few seconds to clear each one. 1 and 2 will cycle through the modules and 3 and 4 will cycle through each code in the module
Well, the holiday has been crazy so I am just now getting to read all the responses. Thanks everyone, I think I will definitely be finding another dealer to figure out whats up. I don't know if I should just clear the code for the air bag then? or have the dealer check it out and fix it. I appreciate everyones help, if anyone knows a good honest dealer in Florida (near Lake Mary) and could let me know that would be awesome.

Just a thought. On my wifes Suburban the light came on also We were going to take it in to the stealer when one day I was drying it after a wash and my Beagle was under the front of the car licking something. We had a slow radiator leak and I thought it was antifreeze she was licking. I quickly removed her and started looking for the leak. What I found was the dog had started to chew on the wires and plug that plug's into the front bumber sensor. I spliced the wires back together and the light went out. Maybe your wires or the plug just came loose or worst yet something chewing on it.
lol well on that note I will take a look and see if there are any wires loose (or chewed up) clear the code, and see if anything comes back on! Thanks again guys!
