Has anyone done this? Did you take it to someone? Or do it yourself? I am interested in doing this to my vette, and curious who has done it. Where you mounted the on/off switch, etc. Thanks all!!
but stupid question....in the rear installation, how well do the strobes work as backup lights...or do they work as backup lights ? (Sorry if I missed this on installation...just did a quick read)

They do not function as backup lights. The factory backup lights are still in tact if you install the strobes the way I state in the write-up. They are just mounted in the backup light assembly because it was the best place to put them for optimal lighting.
However, the frame rate of the video is cut down so the file isn't huge...thus the strobes look like they are going off somewhat sporadic which is not the case. The front left and rear right flash 3 times, and then it switches to the front right and rear left flashing three times, etc.
I have them also in my Z06 and I put two up front in the marker lights, and four in the rear. One on the far left tail light, one in the far right tail light and one in each reverse light. I mounted the box for the strobes behind the bumper. It is very protected there I think.
A friend of mine showed me his stobe lights on his coupe and they looked great. He told me that one day someone was ridding his bumper really bad so he hit his strobe lights and that made the guy back off. Sure would like to put those on my car too.

Ekk....
I have had Police Strobes in two different cars now (I've been using them for 5+ years) and to be honest, I have never used them on the road; only at shows. If a Police Officer EVER sees you using the strobes on a public road and you get caught, all hell breaks loose. While in High School, I use to do neon/strobe/LED installs for lots of people around my area. I installed some strobes in a guy’s car and I always warn them not to use them on public roads. One night he decided to mess around with people and a cop saw him. He was pulled over, arrested, his car was towed and impounded, and he was taken to jail for impersonating a police officer. To me it isn't worth all that just to mess around with a person tailing me.
However, using them at shows rules. EVERYONE sees these bright as heck strobes and they head on over to see what's up
In the state of Georgia, you can get an amber emergency light permit by simply filling out a form saying you tow a boat. There are NO regulations regarding white lights at all. Getting a red light permit requires some medical/fire sign off. (read, flashing red strobes - even backwards, could be a problem, although the code section relates to forward and 360 lights and common sense says a strobe in your tail light is no different then your hazzards flashing) Blue is illegal for any vehicle not owned or leased by a state/county/city law enforcement agency.
Well SpdKilz, I agree with you. I guess I should also say that my friend is a cop, so they would have let him go anyway. But I am glad you said what you did to warn others not to use their strobes on the street.
