Default VIS cowl hood

Been leaning toward one of their carbon fiber cowl hoods. Seen them on Ebay for 508.00. Talked to VIS today and they say all the VIS hoods on Ebay are knockoffs, down to the label. Anyone have a VIS? Fit/finish?

The only person selling the VIS hoods for c5's on ebay, I have heard are knockoffs.. VIS hoods are a little more expensive than 500-600.

Hoped for more input.... but could not let the wife cool down after she offered to go ahead with the hood (actually been planning this). Ordered directly from VIS. C5 carbon fiber cowl hood. $731 shipped. Said it will ship out tomorrow. We will see how it looks in a few days.

Are they bad quality rip offs? Kind of hard to beat for the price.

The one I bought was from VIS (http://www.visracing.com). They say the ones on Ebay are all knockoffs yet they (Ebay) use the excact same photo's and description. About 50/60 dollars price difference total. I also noticed that one dealer on Ebay that claims they are genuine VIS has his history blocked private. If the hood I ordered is as nice as the pics I think it is a hell of a bargain.

Saw the OEM hood on their site, $357.00. That is either a really good deal or a really bad hood (and I dont mean "good" bad).

yeah i saw that - do we have anyone in that area that can check their hoods out - they don't seem to be too friendly with wanting to send more pictures of the hoods, which makes me VERY leary!

that's why i'm trying to get someone to check them out - they say they have an office and have plenty hoods listed on ebay - so they look legit enough, but i need a member local to the area to check them out before i potentially waste $600 on crap!

Is that the one on Ebay that has their history blocked? That was enough warning for me. The "other one" on Ebay has hardly any history at all. Was not going to go that way either.

Don't know about the quality of the hoods on Ebay. But my shop sells LOTS of VIS c.f. hoods for imports. The hoods are fiberglass on the bottom (reinforcement). They say they require hood pins for a legal standpoint.

I've had one fly up on me, test driving a car. Only because it wasn't closed all the way. Looked closed but wasn't latched.

BTW VIS is one of the best fitting body kits that you can buy for the money. Not comparing them to a high end body kit. But you get what you pay for. 4 VIS
