spec stage three cluch

After doing research on this forum - many people raved about it and said it was the clutch to have, etc.. After i purchased mine, i started to read nothing but problems with shuttering etc..
I broke mine in to the T per their directions - this thing still chatters like a SOB and has gotten to the point where my wife will not ride in it because of it. (have over 10k on the clutch)
I also had an experience a few weeks ago where i was at the track and the clutch decided to fuze itself with the flywheel - no more clutch. (I have only taken the car to the track 3 times on this clutch - maybe a total of 10 passes)
From day 1 I have called spec and complained multiple times about the chattering and just recently over the clutch fuzing.. Their customer service is Non-existant. When i called about the fuzing they said "Huh, never heard of that one before" when other members of this forum and ls1tech have called numerous times with the same problem and recieved the same answer.
It seems very touch and go - some people have no problems, others have nitemares. It's not like it is easy to change a clutch in these cars, so i would recommend doing it right the first time vs paying double labor charges if/when you replace it.
And this is all with only 500RWHP - the clutch is rated a bit higher then this.
I would look elsewhere for a clutch, maybe trexilla?
btw - the slave can be had for about $100 from fred beans. (good insurance)

I have also heard very good things about the new ls7 clutch, that is about $550 including flywheel, but not sure what power levels it is good for (i think at least 500) - you could do some research on this as well.

I did experienced slight chatter when pulling out a low rpm's.
All that was needed was learning to rev a little higher when pulling out from dead stops to eliminate the chatter.
I'm having the same flywheel installed with my Textralia clutch while it's at the shop now and will post how this set-up performs later.
You must adjust your driving style a bit with this clutch. It is either “on” or “off” If you try to ease it out or “ride” it, it will chatter. Once you get used to it, it will drive pretty much like stock.
That said; your anticipated horsepower levels may exceed the limitations of this clutch. You may want to consider something a bit more heavy duty.

I've owned performance/muscle cars my whole life, I've drag raced since I was old enough to sign the Track Waiver. I've used Centerforce clutches in my Mustangs that were so stiff my left leg would cramp after driving, I've had McLeod Clutches clutches in my Fbodies that would hold 800 rwhp and grenade trannies without blinking, I've had RAM clutches, I've used Hayes clutches...essentially what I'm saying is that I'm not some little pansy, cry baby that wants a clutch that'll hold 1000 hp w/ the pedal pressure and driveability of a Honda Accord clutch. I know that clutches are about give and take when it comes to performance vs driveability.
So having said all of that...the Spec clutch is garbage. Like someone else has already stated, it's either "ON" or "OFF". There is no in-between. So you either stall the car, or you lurch it forward snapping the necks of passengers (and barking tires). I can deal with that though....what I cannot deal with is the "bonus features" that it offers. It also has the "diesal dump truck" emulation device built in, where the flywheel proceeds to shake and rattle throughout the drivetrain while I'm stopped at lights (There's nothing like having cars around you stare and ask "Is there something wrong w/ your car?"...or better yet when your passenger says, "This is a really nice car...but it sounds like it's about to fall apart! That's the greatest feeling in the world). Luckily it will go away if you hold the clutch pedal in while stopped at lights.
The best part is that when the car is warmed up, the clutch will let out a loud squeel/screech as you attempt to drive away from a stop. Ever heard a squeeling powersteering belt? It's melodious compared to the Spec Clutch....and yes, I broke the clutch in as perscribed. 500 miles of varied driving with no high rpms shifts. When Spec was asked about this...they stated, "You need to find some RR tracks and drive over them several times...the vibration will help seat it". ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME???? (He was not)
So...for those of you that won the "Spec Lottery" and have one that works...consider yourself part of the lucky 50%...because that's about what it seems...half of them work...half of them don't. In the words of Dirty Harry..."Navy08, do you feel lucky?"
