Just got my new tires mounted and balanced. We got Michelin Pilots PS2's and for price I could have bought a nice used car. Oh well the price of owing a Corvette. Really like the tires though. This months Car and Drives had a good article on performance tires and worth reading. By the way the PS2's were rated 4th overall. Would have been higher but price was one of tha rating factors.
I looked into getting the "Goodyears" that were rated tops but was unable to get a matching tire tread for the rear (larger) tires.... but I wouldn't have purchased them anyhow... they were $550 EACH + INSTALLATION. (Maybe I could have shopped around, but still !!!!)
After posting I checked with the "Tire Rack", (4) Goodyear F1's would run less than $900 before shipping... quite a difference compared to what I was told from a local Goodyear dealer !
I also have the PS2's. They are great tires and a vast improvement over the stock Z06 tires. The only negative is that they weren't much cheaper than the new wheels I put them on, CCW Classics.
I just bought Michelin Pilot Sports (runflats) for my 2002 coupe (Bought new wheels, too). The car is fun to drive again. I was running the original Goodyears and I felt like I was driving Barny Rubbles car. After a half hour of driving I had to get out of the car. Now, it's a pleasure to drive.
Definately good choice on tires. You could have bought an decent LT1 F-body with brand new tires on it and driven the tires bald for what you prolly spent on those Pilots though. lol But there is just no denying the quality. I just hope i can afford something near as good when i get to the wear bars on my Goodyear F1's
