Ive got one of my tire sensors valve core leaking.Tried to tighten it but still leaked.I thought i would try replacing the core, does the sensors take a normal valve core or does it need to be a special one for the sensor?
Thanks guys
I have just replaced with standard cores...keep the length of the original...found the stem bent slightly....make sure there is nothing stuck in the seat area..taking the core out will usually let the air in the tire clean the seat...I use a flashligh and Qtip to check seat. Hope this helps.

It seems GM does want a special valve stem used in the sensor. It has a zinc coating to prevent rust. You can get it for $1.31 at Fred Beans . com. This is a sponsor dealer for Corvette Forum. The entire sensor is only like 30.00 dollars and it comes with the aluminum cap and valve. Below is the link to the valve stem. This sensor is for a 2001 to 2004 vette. The early vettes used a different sensor.
could also be leaking around the valve stem. May want to check that for leaks. You can always get the new o-rings from the dealer, or the #9 orings from Home Depot. May be worth checking..
I have the C5 locking caps. If you over tighten, it will cause the tire to lose air. I think it's because of those little o rings pressing on the stem. We never have the problem in our family truckster that uses those plastic caps.

I had the fancy logo caps too. I couldn't understand why a couple of the tires kept loosing air. I finally discovered that the flat caps were just touching the top of the Schrader valve, and I was losing about 5 lbs per day. I found some cheapy domed caps that look like chrome and the problem disappeared!
