Default help! ABS/Traction Control lights

Hey guys, I was driving home form work today and around 30mph I was running over some rough city roads..not extremely bad, but it was bumpy for a few seconds. All of a sudden my ABS/Traction control lights popped on and the DIC read "Service ABS" and "Service Traction Control" I thought this was strange, and tried to press my trac. control button, but nothing happened. I pressed the reset button to make it stop beeping but the lights stayed on. After stopping down the street and turning the car off/on again, the message dissappeared and I drove home just fine.

Sorry for the long post but i'm confused as to what needs to be "serviced" Please help me out guys! thanks a lot!

You and alot of other people

Mine started about 4 months ago, and has turned into a permenant problem... Some things you can try are cleaning your grounds... Has helped alot of people, theres a really good post on this forum about how and where, with all kinds of good pictures...

If the EBCM (Electronic brake control module) recieves less then X voltage (i cant remember how much voltage, I think its like 8) then it will trigger that message... I cleaned my grounds, they were pretty corroded, the one that connects to the EBCM is on the passenger side, just behind the headlight on 2001 and newer vettes... It is a plastic clip taht grounds a group of 10 wires or so...

Unfortunately for me, it didn't solve my problem... the Dealership quoted me close to $1000 for a new EBCM (i spent $100 to let them trouble shoot it)

My next step is to get a new battery... I hear optima red tops are excellent choices... even though I had my battery checked out by advanced auto parts... Im still going to replace it... I've had batteries check out good before, when my car wouldnt turn over... Changed the battery and presto... I'd rather invest in a regualr maintenance part before $1000 replacment part...

Mine does it every 3 months and then goes right away, typical GM in my case!

I've had a continual problem with it for 2-3 years. Mine will stay off for a month or so and then come on every time I drive it for several weeks. The dealer hasn't been able to figure it out.
