I cannot get the rear rotors off of my car. I bought some drilled/ slotted to install. I can get everything off but the rotor. I had the E brake OFF. car was not in gear. Is there a write up or a step by step to get the rear rotors off? I know it has to do with the E brake. Thank you
Use a rubber mallet and tap on the rotor. Make sure to tap the entire rotor (12,6,3,9 oclock) and it will come off. I am sure you have removed the retaining washers on the wheel studs right. Good Luck.
i have hit the rotor with a hammer. The rotor is loose on the hub. I just cant get the rotor off the hub, But it IS loose. I know its the EB i just dont know how to get it off.
When I did mine one came right off, the other was stuck good. I just got a good size hammer started hitting it, hit, turn quarter turn, Hit, turn quarter turn, hit again, kept it up till it came loose. did not care if I scarred it up. I did not plan on using it again anyway. It was just stuck with rust I think. Good luck on getting it off. Just make sure you did not forget to take something loose, then use a little force. Good luck.
Try walking it off. Its probably hung up on the e-brake pads. Just pull left then right and repeat. It'll drag over the pads a hair at a time. Worst case scenario is you pull the pads out too far in the rotor - and the spring comes off, but you can put it back on easily enough.
