Default Z06 Sway Bars - OMG

Over the weekend I installed a set of Z06 sway bars in my 2000 vert and all I can say is OMG. It is a totally different car now. If you are looking for the best price performance mod you can do, this it. I ordered the sway bars from Fred Beans and the install took a liitle over 2 hours. Very easy! Next up is the 2006 Z06 shocks that I also ordered from Fred Beans.

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on this mod as well.

Best mod for 250 bucks or so. Makes the car tighter in the turns, handles much better without sacrificing ride quality. its also very easy to do yourself.

I did that mod only 3 months after buying my 04 vert. The biggest difference is the absence of lean when going into a curve. With the OEM bars I would always feel like the vette was leaning into the outside of the curve. With the Z06 sways there is almost no noticable lean and the car tracks smoother. The only downside is a slightly rougher ride on uneven road surfaces and a more pronounced "skip" when driving over a bump on a curved portion of the road.

If you are experiencing 'skip', you might look in to adding better shocks to the mix. I installed the '04 Z06 shocks at the same time and just yesterday had a chance to try it out. I found the the tendency to 'skip' was greatly reduced from my stock setup (same road). I also have an 04 vert with about 25k miles on the orginal (non z51 shocks).

I've also lowered the car a bit and the shocks got rid of the 'bottoming out' problem I had after lowering.

So far, the only downside is that the swas/shocks have really exposed how bad my tires are.... next on the list...

Want to do this mod to mine some day. Maybe after I get a new set of wheels and tires.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there any difference between the Z06 sway bars and Hotchkis bars? The Hotchkis bars run around $500 if I'm not mistaken. Just curious.
